David Sears: OK buddy, I guess it's just you and I. (and maybe Jason) 🙂 Since my background is in filmmaking, I put STORY and ACTION before character background exposition. I got some flack about this from the literary types who were trying to tell me how I was "supposed" to write a novel. In movies, plenty of characters come and go, you typically don't NEED to know where they came from. My book is written in first person, so it's all about GAVIN. What do you guys think about this?

This is progressing nicely. The plot evolves at exactly the right pace, revealing enough to snag the attention but without getting impatient and divulging too much too soon. So what, who cares about character background? They're still characters. They talk in their own ways, do their idiosyncratic things, and they're all appealing (no mean feat I know). Really looking forward to the next chapters.

Sorry Eric I'm still here! I enjoyed the previous chunk and loved this one too so I'm along for the ride I assure you. It's great now that we've been introduced to who I assume will turn out to be the villain of the piece, but in any case yes, great stuff.
